About us
Honam University has established the Department of Automotive Engineering this year to train professionals in the field of environmentally friendly vehicles and smart vehicles, and will select 80 freshmen from 2017. Eco-friendly cars mean electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell cars that can reduce air pollution and energy. Smart cars mean cars that drive themselves by combining artificial intelligence and ICT technology for the convenience and safety of drivers.

The paradigm of the automobile industry is rapidly changing from existing internal combustion engines and hybrid vehicles to environmentally friendly and smart cars. The future automobile sector, where the share of electricity, electronics and SW is gradually expanding and it is expected to grow significantly in the next five years.
Professor
The objective of the department is to produce graduates who have interdisciplinary skills that is focused on meeting the industry needs for developing convergence technologies that encompass intelligent cars, existing automobile technology, automobile software, electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel vehicles and more.
Course
Department of automotive engineering at Honam University consists of "Automotive Electronics Control Major" and "Automotive SW Major".
Admission
Honam University was selected as the only PRIME business in the Gwangju area by the Ministry of Education last May, and received KRW 15 billion from the government for the next three years. As a prime candidate, various scholarships (entrance scholarships, etc) and benefits are offered to new students entering Honam University's Future Vehicle Engineering Department.
